Palace Project
The Long Pine Palace/Fire Hall Project
“Working together, we can
improve our beautiful community.”
Linda Alberts,
Long Pine Foundation Chairman
Our plan….
A grant was obtained from Rural Development to do a feasibility
study and to possibly seek grant funds for renovation of the Palace,
Fire Hall and City Offices. Because we are a small community with
limited financial resources, funds will have to be obtained from
grants and local fund raising events. We are pleased to announce that
the study has been completed and the lead architect, Gilmore &
Associates, produced the enclosed site plan. A project of this
magnitude could have a positive impact on our community with new
business and jobs and of course our community pride. To make these
grant funds available to Long Pine we will need overwhelming community
support.
"If we do nothing the
buildings will continue to deteriorate and become unusable for future
generations. It's our duty as responsible citizens to do
everything in our power to prevent this."
Sue Brown,
Long Pine Mayor
Long Pine Volunteer Fire Department requests your support……
The Fire Department has been a part of our
community for the past 120 years. We have protected and supported our
residents and surrounding area from any emergency that has threatened.
We now find ourselves trying to operate the Department in undermanned
and extremely overcrowded in a building with many safety and
deficiency problems. The Volunteer fire personnel support the City’s
plan for renovation of the Palace and a new city building and fire
hall. With grants, contributions and fund raising we can make this
possible. We do not want to see our residents’ taxes raised to fund
this project. We are hoping the community will unite and support each
other with fund raising projects. The department plans to donate money
raised from the NNTC membership drive, fireman consignment auction and
any other fund raising. Members will help to defray the cost by
volunteering their time for any demolition, clean up or construction
for this project completion. The unthinkable loss of your local fire
department would have your ISO rating and insurance cost skyrocket,
with no fire station to protect our area. We hope you consider all
possibilities and support the City’s effort to meet the needs of our
community.
